In June 2011, the Environment Agency (EA) published revised guidance on how the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) applies to private finance initiatives (PFIs).
The changes, which are relatively minor, relate to Section 4 entitled "Application of supply rules". The EA has added two new scenarios:
  • Scenario 4: PFI provider who is in sole occupancy of the premises receives and pays for energy supplies.
  • Scenario 5: PFI arrangements that do not involve occupation of premises (for example, street lighting and road/bridge toll projects).
For a summary of the remaining, unchanged, sections of the guidance, see Legal update, CRC: Environment Agency issues guidance on how the scheme applies to PFIs.
For more information on the CRC in general, see the CRC Survival Kit.
