This note provides an overview of the main procedures used for multi-party litigation. It covers the avenues under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), including multiple joint claims, CPR 19.8 "same interest" claims and group litigation orders.

This note also considers some alternative procedures used in particular types of proceedings, such as collective proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal and derivative actions.

Finally, the note looks briefly at some of the proposals that have been considered (but often not implemented) for multi-party litigation.
