The Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong has recommended the introduction of a class action regime in Hong Kong.
In May 2012, the Law Reform Commission of Hong Kong recommended the introduction of a class action regime in Hong Kong. The Report on Class Actions proposes to implement the new procedure on an incremental basis, starting with consumer cases. The Report also suggests that ADR, including arbitration, could promote the cost-effective dispute resolution of class actions when done in a controlled manner. This point will be considered further in Hong Kong (see Report, paragraph 20).
