Successor legislation to the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935, which was repealed under the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The new PUHCA is a significantly scaled back version of the original legislation. It does not have many of the provisions that had restricted the activities and ownership of utilities. Rather, it is primarily limited to maintaining and providing certain records to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
