An employee designation where the employee remains employed by the original (actual) employer, but is temporarily loaned to, and renders services for, a host company, which may or may not be affiliated with the actual employer. The secondee may continue to be paid by the actual employer, or the host company may assume payroll responsibilities on behalf of the actual employer. In an international or cross-border secondment, a secondee is a type of expatriate, and services are rendered to a host company outside of the US.
