Case management: Ministry of Justice standard directions order

Maintained, England, Wales
This is an order listing all the different options for the standard directions published by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on their website except for those specific to personal injury, clinical negligence, RTA, Employers' liability and housing disrepair claims. It is compiled from the standard directions orders and the menu of model paragraphs and sets out the different individual directions published by the MoJ in one document for ease of reference. It does not contain any notes or commentary on the directions except for those published with the individual directions by the MoJ which have been replicated in this document exactly as they appear on the MoJ website.
The MoJ standard directions are required to be used as a starting point when drafting case management directions in claims allocated to the multi-track (CPR 29.1). In addition, CPR 28.7(2) states that directions given under CPR 28.2(1) (claims allocated to the fast track and the intermediate track) should be in the form set out in the standard directions.
It is important to stress that this document is purely a composite of the various options for directions listed by the MoJ. Parties must consider the appropriateness of particular directions on a case by case basis in light of their obligations under the CPR adapt them as appropriate to the circumstances of the particular case.
Please refer to our Practice note, Case management: Multi-track standard directions for commentary on the content and use of the standard directions, along with our other published materials on relevant topic areas such as Case management, Disclosure, Evidence, Experts, Trial and Costs.
