North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA)

NASAA is a voluntary association of state, provincial, and territorial securities administrators in the 50 US states, the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. In the US, NASAA represents the regulators responsible for administering and enforcing the securities laws of each state and the District of Columbia, colloquially referred to as blue sky laws. Through NASAA, members:
  • Cooperate with the SEC, FINRA, NYSE, Nasdaq, and other self-regulatory organizations (SROs) to promote investor protection.
  • Advocate for pro-investor policy positions through Congressional testimony, comment letters, and other activities.
  • Offer educational materials to investors.
  • Provide resources for professionals in the securities industry and regulatory community, including:
    • registration, exam, and licensing requirements for broker-dealers and investment advisers;
    • corporation finance and franchising resources; and
    • a directory of state and provisional securities laws and regulations.
