The Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced criminal fines collected in the year ending September 30, 2014.
On January 22, 2015, the Antitrust Division of the DOJ announced that it collected $1.861 billion in criminal fines and penalties for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2014. The high total was aided in part by five companies paying over $100 million each in penalties, including a $425 million fine against Bridgestone Corp. as part of the DOJ's auto parts investigation. The DOJ's LIBOR investigation contributed $561 million to the total.
The DOJ also saw 21 defendants sentenced to prison terms with an average term of 26 months.
