Jackson Lewis: Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Law Safe Harbor Clarified, Form Notice Available | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses the Massachusetts Attorney General's clarification of the safe harbor that extends the time for employers to comply with the Massachusetts Earned Sick Time Act (the Act). Last month the Attorney General announced that during the first six months the Act is in effect (from July 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015), employers will be deemed in compliance with the Act if they had a paid time-off (PTO) policy as of May 1, 2015 that met certain requirements. The clarification provides additional information about how the safe harbor will be applied. The Attorney General's office also released an Earned Sick Time Notice of Employee Rights for employers to post when the Act takes effect on July 1, 2015.
