In several recently handed down decisions, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) courts have considered whether, in the absence of any relevant assets within the DIFC against which to enforce an arbitral award, they have jurisdiction to recognise and ratify domestic, onshore (non-DIFC), and foreign arbitral awards. This article discusses those cases and the DIFC courts' approach to enforcement of domestic and foreign awards.
