Doulah & Doulah (D&D) is a partnership law firm in Bangladesh representing the world's largest business houses. Established in 1965 the firm possesses top-ranked transactional capabilities complemented by a strong litigation practice. With a branch office in Chittagong it is now a biggest law firm in Bangladesh.
The firm offers market leading practice in the areas of private equity, M&A, capital markets, banking, finance, power, IP, HR and TMT law. It acted as the lead local counsel to develop the banking and finance platform of the country under the FSRP project.
D&D advises leading financial institutions like OPIC, Merill Lynch, JP Morgan, AKA, CommerzeBank, Bank of New York, Deutsche Bank, Finnfund, IDB, China Exim Bank, Development Bank of China, SAARC Fund and so on in various banking and finance transactions. It has also been appointed by all major institutional investors including Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Credit Suisse Trust, CLSA and ABN Amro. D&D represents all major lease finance providers including GE Capital and AerCap.
The firm has been a consultant in most of the major infrastructure projects in Bangladesh including Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge and Bangabandhu Satellite. So far it has structured 15 power projects. D&D's M&A and PE clients include El Paso, AES, Microsoft, Nokia, Glaxosmithkline, Gates Foundation, CSAV, Mitsubishi and ILFC.
The firm acted in two of the biggest anti-dumping suits in the USA. It acts in a number of international and local arbitrations for clients like Gulf Air, Microsoft, Peacock and so on. Major litigation clients include GSM, BNP Paribas, Swiss Bank and Cargill.
