A Practice Note explaining how to properly serve documents filed after the original summons and complaint (post-commencement documents) in Illinois circuit court civil litigation. Specifically, this Note explains how and when to serve post-commencement documents, which parties to serve, and how to prove service to the court under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 11, Illinois Supreme Court Rule 12, and Illinois Supreme Court Rule 104.
