A Practice Note explaining how to compute time periods in Illinois circuit court civil litigation. Specifically, this Note discusses the scope of time computation rules, computation of time periods measured in days, months, and years, automatic extensions of time when deadlines fall on weekends and legal holidays or because of public emergencies, and computing time following service.
