A Practice Note explaining how to handle unexpected situations that threaten to disrupt or prematurely end a deposition in a civil case in a Pennsylvania court of common pleas. This Note discusses how to respond when a witness fails to show up to the deposition, lies under oath or changes their testimony, is uncooperative, or asserts their Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions. This Note also addresses what to do when opposing counsel are disruptive to a deposition or an emergency ends a deposition early.
