A Practice Note explaining how to compute time periods in Georgia superior and state courts under O.C.G.A. §§ 1-3-1(d)(3) and 9-11-6. This Note explains forward and backward counting deadlines, deadlines of seven days or more, deadlines of seven days or less, and deadlines set in hours, days, weeks, months, or years. This Note also explains how to account for extensions of time, including extensions by agreement, service-based extensions, and weekends and legal holidays.
