A Practice Note explaining how to compute time periods in California state court litigation. Specifically, this Note explains how to compute forward and backward-counting deadlines, calendar days versus court days, weekend and holiday extensions, when additional days are added to time periods after certain kinds of service, and when time periods are calculated in years, half and quarter years, months, and weeks.
