In the US, arbitration is often viewed as a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to litigation. Commercial arbitration generally gives the parties greater finality to their disputes, limits (or even eliminates) expensive pre-hearing discovery, can achieve a resolution more quickly, and offers more procedural flexibility than does litigation. The International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) offers arbitration rules and services for many types of international disputes. This ICDR Arbitration Toolkit offers a selection of resources designed to give attorneys a basic understanding of several important aspects of arbitrating international commercial disputes under the ICDR rules, including how to:
  • Draft a proper arbitration agreement calling for arbitration under the ICDR Rules.
  • Conduct an arbitration under the ICDR rules.
  • Appoint an arbitrator.
  • Request modification of an award issued by an ICDR tribunal.
