This Practice Note provides an overview of the rights of members of the US armed forces and other servicemembers and their dependents under residential leases in Texas. This Note discusses the applicable provisions under the US Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and the Texas Property Code. This Note also discusses standard lease clauses and issues to consider when drafting or interpreting a Texas residential lease involving a US servicemember.
