The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) announced the launch of two online fee payment tools: Financial Manager and the Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront.
On April 7, 2016, the USPTO announced the launch of two new online fee payment tools. The two programs, Financial Manager and the Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront, launched on April 9, 2016.
Financial Manager allows users to:
  • Create their own uspto.gov accounts.
  • Store and manage payment methods online.
  • Assign secure user permissions to allow others to access and manage payment methods.
  • Receive administrative email notifications.
  • Create transaction reports.
The Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront allows users to:
  • Retrieve patent maintenance fee information.
  • Upload bulk files to pay multiple patent maintenance fees at once.
  • Check out using stored payment methods.
  • Receive an itemized receipt for each payment.
  • Download a statement for each patent.
The new tools will replace the website's Office of Finance Online Shopping Page and Financial Profile, and anyone attempting to pay a patent maintenance fee online will now be required to use the Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront.
Customers will have until June 30, 2016 to migrate existing deposit accounts and electronic funds transfer accounts to Financial Manager. In addition, all deposit accounts will be managed through Financial Manager, and the USPTO will no longer mail paper statements to deposit account holders. More details about the Financial Manager tool are available here.
