Upstream (gas)

The upstream gas industry includes the exploration and production of natural gas, sometimes in association with oil. It is also known as the exploration and production (E&P) industry. It includes searching for underground natural gas fields, drilling exploratory wells and subsequently operating the wells to bring the oil and gas to the surface. The upstream oil and gas industry has traditionally had a very active M&A market. While much of the upstream industry is focussed offshore, gas fields can also be found onshore. See also downstream (gas) and midstream (gas).
