This Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses the City of Philadelphia's new Wage Theft Law effective July 1, 2016. The new ordinance provides for a private right of action that does not require an initial administrative complaint, and imposes administrative and other additional employer penalties for each violation. The ordinance also creates the position of Wage Theft Coordinator, and introduces an anti-retaliation provision, a posting requirement, and joint and several liability amongst two or more named respondents.
