European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSOE)

A non-profit making European association established to facilitate and enhance co-operation between national electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) across Europe. ENTSOE's tasks were originally set out in EU Electricity Regulation 714/2009 which formed part of the Third Energy Package but have since been recast in EU Electricity Regulation 2019 ((EU) 2019/943).
These include:
  • Ensuring the secure and reliable operation of the increasingly complex network.
  • Facilitating cross-border network development and the integration of renewable energy.
  • Enhancing the creation of the internal electricity market.
