The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) approved amendments to the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) rules to allow HSR filings to be made on DVD.
On August 26, 2016, the FTC announced that it will allow parties to make HSR submissions on DVD. Currently, all HSR filings must be submitted to the antitrust agencies in paper. The FTC stated that DVD submissions will make HSR filings more cost-effective and efficient. DVD HSR filings will be accepted as the agencies continue to explore ways to permit an electronic HSR filing option.
The FTC also amended other portions of the HSR filing instructions, many unrelated to DVD filings, to make those instructions easier to understand. Those non-substantive changes are intended to reduce the filing parties' burden and to make it easier to prepare HSR filings and comply with HSR requirements. The FTC voted 3-0 to approve the amendments.
