Litigation Technologist

An individual who assists with the technical aspects of e-discovery. Litigation technologists often are involved in all phases of e-discovery and perform the technical work inherent in:
Litigation technologists assist counsel by using technology to implement counsel's e-discovery strategy or protocol. For example, if counsel needs to produce a subset of documents as native files, the litigation technologist will isolate the files in the document review platform, instruct the platform to generate the native file production, and package it for delivery to the requesting party (for example, copy it to a DVD).
A litigation technologist may work for:
  • A company or organization as part of an in-house legal department.
  • A law firm as part of an in-house litigation support or information technology department.
  • An e-discovery vendor that contracts with law firms and litigants to provide litigation support services on a case-specific basis.
