US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a Final Rule increasing immigration application and petition filing fees for the first time in six years. The new fees are effective on December 23, 2016.
On October 24, 2016, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a Final Rule adjusting filing fees for immigration and naturalization benefit requests. USCIS determined that current fees do not recover the full costs of services provided. The fees will increase for the first time since November 2010, by a weighted average of 21 percent.
The new fees are effective for petitions or applications received by USCIS on or after December 23, 2016.
Among the numerous fee increases are adjustments on the following forms:
  • I-129/129CW, Petition for a Nonimmigrant Worker, increases from $325 to $460.
  • I-131/I-131A, Application for Travel Document, increases from $360 to $575.
  • I-140, Immigrant Petition for Alien Worker, increases from $580 to $700.
  • I-360, Petition for Amerasian Widow(er) or Special Immigrant, increases from $405 to $435.
  • I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, increases from $985 to $1,140.
  • I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur, increases from $1,500 to $3,675.
  • I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status, increases from $290 to $370.
  • I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, increases from $380 to $410.
  • I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, increases from $405 to $465.
  • I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions, remains at $3,750.
  • I-924, Application for Regional Center Designation Under the Immigrant Investor Program, increases from $6,230 to $17,795.
  • I-924A, Annual Certification of Regional Center, requires a new fee of $3,035.
  • N-400, Application for Naturalization, increases from $595 to $640.
