Jackson Lewis: Pennsylvania Passes Law Allowing Payment of Wages by Payroll Debit Cards | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf's November 4, 2016 signing of an amendment to the banking code that will allow employers to, in certain circumstances, pay employees' wages using payroll debit cards. The use of these prepaid cards allows employers to pay employees who do not have bank accounts, prevents employees from having to pay fees to access their funds, and allows employees to use the cards where debit cards are accepted. Employers must make the cards optional for employees and comply with statutory notice and authorization requirements.
