Strategic buyer
In the context of share or asset purchase transaction, a type of acquirer that is operating in the same industry as the target company or business, and who is making the acquisition for strategic rather than investment reasons. The primary goal of a typical strategic buyer is to integrate the target's assets, resources or operations with the buyer's existing business, with a view to realising cost savings or other synergies or benefits.
